Tip #29 for the holiday season: Reflect

Set aside some intentional time to look back over the past year. You might light a few candles post-meditation and journal in quiet solitude, or you may prefer this exploration in the good company of friends, perhaps as you contemplate over tea in the early morning light, or you may make a ritual out of it, burning notes of what you want to let go of in 2019. Here are some questions to explore:

What were the highlights of this past year?

What was challenging for you in 2019?

What did you learn in 2019?

Who was important to you in 2019?

What did you let go of in 2019?

Some reflections on 2019 from the Calm team:

Jade: A highlight of my 2019 for me was getting married! Spending time with so many people that I love was magical. I also endured a few difficult challenges this year, but they reminded me of what’s and who is most important in my life and to remain grateful.

Christi-an: A highlight from 2019 was learning to befriend and honor parts of myself that I have battled against. For example, I’m quite sensitive and find loud and crowded social events to be overwhelming. For years I’ve pushed through my sensitivity because I thought there was something wrong with me. This year I chose small dinner parties over nights out at the bar, and night’s at home instead of concerts. It’s been refreshing and rejuvenating.
